About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Southern Cross Care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise support provision for daily living in accordance with each resident's care/service plan.
  • Lead and promote social and physical engagement in all resident interactions.
  • Assess resident's condition and functional ability, and ensure risks are identified, managed, and evaluated.
  • Ensure optimal use of medications, monitoring for adverse effects, and administering in a timely and safe manner.
  • Provide leadership, direction, support, mentoring, and coaching to Personal Carers, Enrolled Nurses, Hotel Service staff, Lifestyle, Maintenance, and Administration staff on each shift.
  • Ensure clear and succinct handovers from shift to shift and relevant documentation in the 7-day handover sheet correlates with progress notes, alert notification forms, care plan suggested change forms, and risk management plans.
  • Ensure all staff read and comply with all policies, procedures, and work instructions relevant to them.
About You

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse who possesses the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Nursing with current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) and Current CPR Certificate (HLTAID009).
  • Previous experience working as a Registered Nurse in an Aged Care environment.
  • Sound communication skills with a level of English literacy that enables you to speak in a manner that older people can understand, as well as the ability to read written instructions and write clearly and concisely.
  • Exceptional time management skills to manage your own workload to meet deadlines and support other staff.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills to balance supporting residents' desire for independence and self-determination against potential risks and duty of care.
  • High-level understanding of the requirements to support residents living with dementia, including those who display challenging behaviors.
  • Understanding of how to apply AN-ACC to ensure optimum levels of funding are achieved.
  • Excellent contemporary best practice clinical knowledge, including medicines used in aged care.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Aged Care Standards, particularly as they relate to accreditation.
