The position of Project Director, Terrestrial Conservation is a key role in our organization, overseeing the delivery of terrestrial and freshwater campaigns. As part of our Protecting Australia's Nature program, you will lead a team to achieve large-scale conservation outcomes for the environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the protection of Australia's unique environment and build sustainable futures for communities. You will work closely with our campaign teams to establish strong, durable, and equitable conservation outcomes across Australia.

  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that inspires excellence and encourages mutual respect.
  • Manage and mentor members of the terrestrial and freshwater teams, providing day-to-day leadership and facilitating ongoing professional development.
  • Develop and implement effective campaign strategies to achieve the objectives and deliverables of the Protecting Australia's Nature program.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with key decision-makers, government officials, stakeholders, and conservation NGOs.
  • Monitor project implementation progress and provide regular reports to stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of applicable experience in leading successful state and national campaigns.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of conservation policy and current trends.
  • Passion for nature conservation and working with Indigenous peoples.
  • Strong understanding of the Indigenous cultural context of conservation work in Australia.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to lead diverse teams.
  • Politically astute with proven aptitude to leverage political and stakeholder relationships.
