Protecting Australia's Nature Program Lead

The Protecting Australia's Nature program is a significant initiative aimed at safeguarding the country's unique ecosystems and biodiversity. As a program lead, you will be responsible for driving the terrestrial work of this program to ensure its successful delivery.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective campaign strategies to achieve the objectives and deliverables of the Protecting Australia's Nature program.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with key decision-makers, government officials, stakeholder leaders, Indigenous leaders, and international institutions.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular reports and updates to relevant parties.
  • Ensure a high public profile for terrestrial conservation issues related to Pew's Protecting Australia's Nature Project.
Our Environment Work

The Pew Charitable Trusts has been actively engaging the public and policy makers on environmental challenges across seven continents. With over 250 professionals working globally, we strive to reduce the scope and severity of global environmental problems.

For decades, we have worked to protect large terrestrial ecosystems, including rivers, coastal temperate rainforests, interior mountain ranges, the northern boreal forests, Australia's Outback, and Chilean Patagonia. We aim to preserve these natural systems, ensuring they remain bountiful, functioning, and resilient, providing essential ecological services like clean air and water.

Conservation Goals

We seek to extend protection to critical terrestrial, marine, and freshwater systems by leveraging our robust network of influence federally and in states where we campaign. This includes achieving the global biodiversity framework target of protecting 30% of Australia's lands by 2030 and developing new models of river and floodplain protection for identified rivers in northern Australia.

Responsibilities

As the program lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Protecting Australia's Nature program. Your primary objective will be to ensure the successful delivery of terrestrial and freshwater campaigns, while also fostering strong relationships with stakeholders and decision-makers.

  • Lead the terrestrial work of the Protecting Australia's Nature program.
  • Develop and implement effective campaign strategies and set measurable goals to achieve program objectives.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with key decision-makers, government officials, and stakeholders.
  • Monitor project implementation and provide regular reports and updates.
