About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Retail Design Manager to join our team at Metcash. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering industry best practice and innovative retail designs for our Metcash Food & Grocery retailers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, draft and document new and refurbishment supermarket fit-outs from inception to completion for our independent retailers in consultation with internal and external stakeholders to the brief, budget and Metcash requirements
  • Manage the review and approval of all projects efficiently and timely, following internal best practices, processes, and standards
  • Co-ordinate all internal/external design and construction documents to ensure compatibility with approved store fit-out requirements
  • Review and comment on design documentation provided by developers and independent retailers to offer the best outcome for the supermarket
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant regulatory/statutory requirements, company standards, and compatibility with tenancy
  • Consultation and co-ordination of store design with external consultants, including but not limited to Developers, Architects, Engineers, Building Surveyors, Disability Access Consultants, etc.
  • Work with internal/external parties to achieve goals, e.g. Property, Retail Development, Legal, Commercial manager, Councils, consultants, builders, etc.
  • Site investigation and preparation of Existing Conditions, Feasibility Sketches, Concept Plans and presentation drawings for development proposals/stakeholder approvals, etc.
  • Analyse Space and make recommendations to optimize our store estate to improve functionality (customer experience and store operations) and financial performance
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications – Architectural or Interior Design
  • Experience in supermarket/food convenience retail design and documentation preferred
  • High level of working knowledge in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD essential (Competence in Revit family creation advantageous)
  • Competence in Enscape or similar presentation software
  • Demonstrated presentation skills. Must be able to show a portfolio of relevant works (2D/3D) indicating design, documentation, and presentation competence
  • Strong working knowledge of supermarket requirements relating to equipment, joinery, flow, layout, operations, food prep/safety, services (MEP), regulatory/statutory (BCA/NCC/DDA and Australian Standards)
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Creativity, Teamwork and time management are essential
