Job Title: Entry Level Mechanic Apprenticeship

We are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team as an entry-level mechanic apprentice.

The role involves completing the first stage of a structured learning and development program, providing you with the skills needed for a successful career in rail maintenance. You will gain practical on-the-job training while receiving a formal trade qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify engine components such as drive and support systems.
  • Mobile plant braking systems, fluid power and steering systems.
  • Drive assemblies and transmissions.
  • Electrical and electronic circuit systems.

You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of equipment, including hi-rail/road rail vehicles, minor motorized/diesel, and petrol-powered plant, light vehicles, and small-mid size trucks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Valid C-class drivers' license.
  • Strong work ethic and encouraging attitude.
  • Motivated and reliable.
  • Ability to undertake manual/physical work.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
  • Familiarity with Workplace Health & Safety procedures.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure in tight deadlines.

As an apprentice, you will be required to travel around Newcastle, Sydney, and regional NSW to conduct plant scheduled preventative services, urgent corrective works, and/or plant equipment mechanical support on major construction projects and rail network possessions and outages.

  • Psiychometric, Literacy and Numeracy assessments.
  • Reference checks.
  • Pre-employment CAT1 medical including drug & alcohol testing.
