Job Title: Intensive Care Nurse Specialist

Deliver advanced patient care and coordinate the delivery of nursing services in an intensive care setting.

The Role
  • Provide comprehensive patient care, aligning with established healthcare policies and procedures, to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Apply knowledge and skills in accordance with relevant legislation and common law affecting nursing practice, acknowledging accountability for individual actions.
  • Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships and teamwork among staff, patients, relatives, doctors, and ancillary staff.
  • Collaborate with team members to assess allocated patients and provide high-quality care.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient information.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the care team and report changes in patient status to relevant personnel.
  • Develop discharge plans on admission to ensure efficient use of resources and optimal patient preparation for discharge.
  • Document incidents and report them to the designated nurse manager or assistant nurse manager.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
  • Post-graduate qualification in critical care nursing.
  • Recent clinical experience in emergency departments, with resuscitation and triage skills highly desirable.
