About the Role and Team
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Associate/Special Counsel to become part of our General Insurance team located in Perth.
The Perth General Insurance team is part of our national General Insurance division, comprising approximately 200 professionals across the country. We offer comprehensive general insurance guidance to insurers, reinsurers, and corporate clients in both the Australian and London insurance sectors, and we are included on the legal panels of three of Australia's leading general insurers. Additionally, we support the Firm's Commercial Disputes Resolution (CDR) team.
This role primarily involves providing counsel on defendant personal injury and general liability cases, including historical abuse claims. These matters are notably intricate, technically demanding, and sensitive in nature. Our team frequently represents clients in the District Court and Supreme Court of Western Australia.
This position offers a hands-on experience with substantial development and advancement prospects, as well as the chance to collaborate with prominent clients, including some of Australia's leading insurers.
Skills and Experience
We are eager to connect with candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years' post-admission experience in advising on defendant insurance issues, particularly in personal injury and general liability;
- Experience in defending historical abuse claims and/or a keen interest in this legal domain;
- We are open to considering candidates from a plaintiff background who are interested in transitioning to defendant representation;
- Proficiency in managing files and navigating court proceedings;
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team;
- Exceptional technical, analytical, and drafting abilities with a strong attention to detail;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
