Job Title: Senior Safety Advisor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Safety Advisor to join our Water Utilities Team at Central Highlands Regional Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in promoting a safe culture, coaching and mentoring workers, and delivering efficient safety systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and support the embedment of Council's robust safety culture within the Water Utilities Team
  • Assist with the review and development of safety documents, including Safe Operating Procedures (SOP), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and Site Risk Assessments (SRA)
  • Conduct frequent field-based tasks, such as safety inspections and safety observations, and provide advice on best practice
  • Coordinate the reporting and investigation procedures for accidents, incidents, and near misses
  • Support supervisors with return-to-work and suitable duties plan implementation and compliance
  • Ensure effective regulatory and statutory reporting requirements are met within time frames
  • Collaborate with the safety and wellness team to support the common goal of safe work practices

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role within the operational and/or construction environment, with a comprehensive knowledge of Work Health & Safety Act 2011 and Regulations 2011
  • Demonstrated ability and attitude to work in an operational team environment, developing innovative solutions to achieve best practice in safe work methods
  • Demonstrated facilitation and computer skills to deliver consultation for new procedures and practices
  • High-level disciplined knowledge of work health and safety management systems, hazard identification, and risk management techniques
  • Qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline
  • Minimum of Queensland C-class provisional driver's license
  • General Construction Industry Card
