About the Role

The Community Supports Services team at Challenge Community Services is seeking a skilled and compassionate Support Worker to join our team. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting clients with disabilities, focusing on skill development and enriching their lives through engaging, creative activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support clients with disabilities in developing skills and confidence through activities such as cooking, music, crafts, leisure sports, reading, singing, and more.
  • Provide in-home support for clients, which may require working afternoon and night shifts.
  • Engage with clients to develop positive relationships and support their unique needs.
  • Prioritize tasks and demonstrate problem-solving abilities to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who is:

  • Confident in engaging with clients effectively and building positive relationships.
  • Resilient and self-assured, able to work with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Skilled in prioritizing tasks and demonstrating problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexible, with availability for shift work, sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Outlook.
  • Holder of a valid Australian Driver's License, Working With Children Check, and NSW NDIS Workers Screening Check.
  • Able to pass a National Criminal History Check.
  • Full COVID vaccination status.
  • Experience with high-needs Disability clients.
  • Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or equivalent (desirable).
  • Demonstrated understanding of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) processes (desirable).
  • Handy craft skills (sewing, knitting, crocheting) - desirable.
