Gas Meter Reader

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and have a passion for fitness.

About the Role:

  • Read electric, gas or water meters and record usage to ensure accurate billing.
  • Navigate properties to locate gas meters, inspect them for defects and damage, and report any irregularities.
  • Report all encounters of gas meter leaks, damaged or vandalized installations, and address errors.
  • Ensure all dealings with the public are professional and polite.
  • Accurately read meters for gas distributors on behalf of retailers and fulfill daily contracted duties.
  • Complete car-based routes that require driving onto properties to obtain reads.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Working independently to navigate properties and collect meter readings.
  2. Inspecting meters and connections for defects and damage.
  3. Reporting irregularities and addressing errors in a timely manner.
  4. Providing excellent customer service to the public.
  5. Accurately reading meters and fulfilling contracted duties.
  6. Driving to properties to collect reads, including busy roads and highways.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Enjoyment of working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Good physical ability to walk long hours (30km a day).
  • High level of attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Reliability and punctuality in meeting deadlines.
  • Valid car license for traveling to job sites.
