Senior Debt Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Debt Recovery Specialist to lead our Accounts Receivable team and oversee debt management across the country.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain agreed ceilings on outstanding debts and ensure timely collections.
- Lead and manage a high-performing Credit Control and Accounts Receivable team.
- Facilitate regular debtor meetings with Project Managers and Business Centre Leads to discuss credit management strategies.
- Oversee banking and receipting of client payments in the accounting system, ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation.
- Monitor debtor ageing and follow up on overdue invoices via email and phone, employing effective communication skills to resolve disputes.
- Generate statements and reminder letters for clients, maintaining a professional tone while emphasizing the importance of timely payment.
- Liaise with debt collection agencies, legal representatives, and external administrators to negotiate settlements and recover outstanding debts.
- Conduct credit checks and approve minor account setups, utilizing expertise to minimize risk and maximize opportunities.
- Process refunds and reconcile client accounts, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Support internal and external audits as required, providing documentation and insight to facilitate smooth operations.
- Record keeping of all contacts/correspondence with clients, project managers, and legal teams is essential for effective debt recovery.
- Produce debtor reports as required, analyzing data to identify trends and inform strategic decisions.
- Proven experience in debt recovery and team leadership is crucial for success in this role.
- A strong understanding of financial controls and compliance is essential for navigating complex financial situations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are vital for building relationships and resolving disputes.
- Ability to work collaboratively across business lines and disciplines is necessary for effective collaboration and problem-solving.
- Familiarity with accounting systems and reporting tools is advantageous for efficient record-keeping and analysis.
