The role of Environmental Site Surveillance Officer is crucial in ensuring that project and asset management works comply with environmental and heritage legislation. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing on-site support to significant projects.

This involves reviewing environmental controls and construction environmental management plans (CEMP) to ensure compliance. You will also attend site inspections and pre-start meetings to monitor progress and identify any potential issues.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will be required to induct staff and contractors into the site, ensuring they understand environmental controls and procedures. Regular site visits will be necessary to ensure compliance and monitor environmental performance.

You will work closely with a range of stakeholders, both internally and externally, to ensure effective communication and collaboration. This may involve liaison with Environment & Heritage Business Partner to escalate any issues or provide advice on environmental management.

A key aspect of this role is identifying business risks and working with management to develop mitigation strategies. You will also be expected to contribute to problem-solving and improvement initiatives to reduce costs, improve productivity, and increase effectiveness.

Qualifications for this role include tertiary qualifications in Environmental Sciences/Engineering or a related discipline. Experience in rail, construction, or a related industry is highly regarded. Additionally, a current RIW Card, White Card, and Driver's Licence are essential.
