
School Support Specialist

This role involves working as a professional Psychologist in an educational environment to maximize student learning outcomes.
The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders, consulting widely, and working effectively with school leadership, students, and parents.
The team collaborates closely with school leadership and the Student Services team to ensure that students receive comprehensive support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing school psychology services and programs to improve student wellbeing and educational outcomes
- Collaborating with school leadership and other professionals to provide effective interventions and support
- Working autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality services
The ideal candidate will have strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce correspondence, reports, case notes, and facilitate interviews and training.
They will also possess highly developed interpersonal skills, analytical and conceptual abilities, and the capacity to work effectively in a dynamic and diverse educational setting.
To succeed in this role, applicants must hold or be eligible for provisional or general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment.
Additionally, they must obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting and consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before commencing employment.
Selection CriteriaThe following selection criteria are essential for this position:
- Demonstrated ability to implement school psychology services and programs in an educational environment to maximise student learning outcomes
- Demonstrated knowledge of the implementation and evaluation of psychological approaches appropriate for individual, group, and system-level intervention
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce correspondence, reports, case notes, and facilitate interviews and training
- Highly developed interpersonal skills to work autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to issues identification, risk assessment, intervention, and evaluation
