About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to join our team at Bankwest. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the overall design and engineering of our platforms, providing guidance and oversight to ensure that technical deliveries are aligned to engineering direction and strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and engineering of complex systems and platforms
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure alignment with engineering direction and strategy
  • Build and lead high-performing teams through complex multi-year builds
  • Design and implement solutions to complex problems, including onboarding and migrating to new tooling
  • Define engineering standards and uplift engineering performance
  • Provide technical ownership of key assets, including roadmaps and technical direction
  • Drive cultural and process changes supporting modern delivery practices
  • Set and drive the agenda for key strategic initiatives
Requirements
  • Strong technical background with experience building and leading teams in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with automation and designing software architecture in the banking domain
  • Developing 3-tier applications on-premises and on cloud
  • Microservices design and implementation of highly scalable APIs
  • Scripting/programming languages (JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Python)
  • CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Octopus)
  • Cloud - AWS along with certification
  • Solution and System Design
  • Application Security and Observability
  • Code quality control through peer programming, code review, and automated pipeline management
