Software Engineering Manager Role

Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the opportunity to work in a variety of broader domains. As an Engineering Manager, we gain organizational alignment by building a strong engineering vision and offering creative solutions to organizational design.

We serve as mentors for a team of engineers, overseeing their performance and trying to find stretch opportunities for their growth.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage a group of software engineers, coaching them, holding them accountable to best practices and their growth plan
  • Partner with leadership to develop strategies for improving team health and effectiveness
  • Build relationships with other engineering teams at Riot to foster cross-team collaboration
  • Mentor engineers in best practices for software development
  • Champion sourcing and hiring processes to identify and hire engineers
Necessary Qualifications:
  • 7+ years professional experience as a software engineer
  • 3+ years experience as an Engineering Manager leading engineers
  • Experience recruiting candidates and growing an engineering team
  • Experience with software development, including shipping products on large code bases that span multiple platforms and tools
  • Experience collaborating across departments to create solutions
  • 3+ years experience as a tech lead
  • Experience participating in technical discussions such as design reviews and code reviews
  • Experience developing with C++ or C#
