Geological Data Management Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Geological Data Management Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the integration and optimization of geological data management systems, GIS workflows, and standardization of data collection methods and analysis processes across our operations.

">Key Responsibilities">
  • Review and maintain current geological and field data management processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize GIS-based workflows and processes to support our operations.
  • Coordinate and manage system changes across multiple sites, ensuring seamless implementation with minimal operational disruption.
  • Create and maintain procedures and documentation for systems-based project deliverables.
  • Presentation of system changes to key stakeholders to our site teams, providing clear communication of impacts, benefits, and implementation timelines.
  • Support end users and manage service tickets through platforms like Jira Service Management.
  • Evaluation and pilot new technologies including machine learning, automation, remote sensing, and spatial analytics.
  • Ensure team operations adhere to IT security processes and policies while promoting best practices.
">Qualifications and Experience">
  • A degree in Geology, Information Systems, Geoscience, or related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in GIS, drilling, mining/metals, or oil and gas industries.
  • Practical experience with relational and spatial databases (SQL, Snowflake, SQLite, geodatabases).
  • Applied knowledge of GIS and spatial data management systems.
  • Programming and development skills with proficiency in Python.
  • Strong understanding of IT methodologies, systems, and processes.
  • Experience with drilling methodology and/or geological data collection would be advantageous.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to liaise professionally with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong time management and project management skills with ability to work independently on concurrent projects.
