Aboriginal Mental Health Care Specialist

Role Overview:
The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician provides culturally competent care coordination, intervention and liaison services as part of a multidisciplinary team for individuals with mental illness, distress and/or risk issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, person-centred care to consumers and their families and carers in a holistic manner that promotes self-determination and rehabilitation principles.
- Engage and collaborate with consumers, their families and carers and other stakeholders through high-level communication skills.
- Utilize electronic medical record programs and Microsoft Office software to ensure accurate care delivery.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of mental health strategic directions, including those related to Aboriginal people and communities.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation and policies.
- Hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant field and possess a current unrestricted driver's license.
Selection Criteria:
- Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal cultures and established links with the local community.
- Hold a registration or eligibility for membership with relevant professional bodies.
