Police Chief Role in Woodstock, GA

The Police Chief serves as a key member of the city's executive leadership team and is entrusted with leading a highly respected law enforcement agency. Reporting directly to the City Manager, the Police Chief provides strategic direction, operational oversight, and ethical leadership to the department, ensuring it fulfills its mission to serve and protect the community.

This role requires a dynamic and forward-thinking leader who understands the complexities of modern policing and is committed to building and maintaining trust within the diverse population. The Police Chief oversees patrol operations, criminal investigations, support services, training, community outreach, and crime prevention initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of sworn and civilian personnel at all levels.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve public safety and address emerging challenges.
  • Collaborate with regional law enforcement agencies and community partners to build relationships and leverage resources.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field.
  • Ten years of related work experience in law enforcement with increasing responsibility.
  • Certification through the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council (POST) as a Basic Law Enforcement Officer.
