Solution Architect Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced architect to lead the design and implementation of innovative payment solutions. This role involves defining architecture roadmaps, guiding platform evolution, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and scheme certifications.

  • Define and maintain target state architecture and roadmaps for a leading payments platform.
  • Lead solution design for card issuing, acquiring, switching, and merchant services.
  • Provide technical leadership across real-time payments, eCommerce, and omni-channel initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and assess feasibility.
  • Evaluate and integrate vendor solutions with scheme and security compliance.
  • Architect event-driven, microservices, and cloud-native solutions (Azure/AWS).
  • Ensure performance, scalability, security, and supportability of solutions.
  • Mentor junior architects and contribute to governance and best practices.
Requirements
  • 10+ years in solution architecture within payments and banking.
  • Proven experience with similar switching platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of card scheme operations, tokenisation, 3D Secure, and digital wallets.
  • Expertise in ISO 8583, ISO 20022, AS2805, and SWIFT protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, containerisation, and integration tools (Web Services, MQ).
  • Familiarity with Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, and eCommerce gateways (e.g., Cybersource, MPGS).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

This is a contract role based in Melbourne, commencing as soon as available. The successful candidate will lead strategic architecture initiatives across high-impact payment platforms.

You will work closely with key stakeholders to deliver architectural expertise and ensure alignment with business objectives.
