We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimating Manager to join our team at Whittens, a leading Australian-owned civil construction company. As a key member of our pre-contracts team, you will be responsible for leading a small team of estimators and delivering timely and accurate estimates for a range of civil construction infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the estimating process from end-to-end, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead and mentor a team of estimators, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Prepare and price estimates in their entirety, developing detailed project budgets and ensuring compliance with company procedures.
- Peer review estimates completed by other estimators, ensuring accurate pricing and adherence to company standards.
- Collaborate with the Executive Pre-Contracts Manager to prepare and review preliminary estimates, risk and opportunity analyses, and tender assumptions.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, sub-contractors, suppliers, and other external stakeholders.
- Implement the Pre-contracts Gate process, preparing relevant Gates 3/4/5 and ensuring compliance with company procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar senior estimating role within the civil construction industry, with exposure to civil tenders including earthworks, concrete, NPI, roadworks, and drainage.
- Formal tertiary education in QS, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or Contracts Management - desirable.
- A minimum of 10 years estimating experience, with a strong understanding of the National Code of Practice, procurement, and construction methodology.
- Expert estimating software experience - desirable.
- Exposure to tenders on large-scale projects from $10-100M.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
