A Heavy Vehicle Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of military vehicles.

The job requires conducting routine maintenance and repairs on various types of heavy military vehicles, including 4WDs, trucks, tracked and armoured vehicles, infantry personnel carriers, and even armoured tanks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining vehicles to ensure they are safe and roadworthy
  • Repairing or replacing worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, and differentials
  • Reassembling, testing, cleaning, and adjusting repaired or replaced parts
  • Carrying out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs
  • Testing and repairing electrical systems, such as lighting, ignition, and electronic fuel injection
  • Inspecting vehicles and issuing road worthiness certificates

To be successful in this role, you must possess a current Australian State or Territory class HR Driver's License or be willing to obtain one. You must also be an Australian Citizen and able to maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
