Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice on complex development applications, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including council members, to problem-solve and make key decisions on growth and planning.
  • Mentor and train junior staff, including Development Officers, to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Develop and implement key planning policies and guidelines, contributing to the City of Playford's strategic goals.
  • Participate in committees, bodies, and the Council Assessment Panel to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Observe, comply, and promote safe work health and safety practices across the organization, community, and customers.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Urban & Regional Planning.
  • Full membership of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Development Act 1993, Planning, Development & Infrastructure Act 2016, and associated legislation.
  • Working knowledge of complex development applications.
  • Experience in preparing legal briefs and instructions.
  • Effective time management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing.
