Job Title: Linux Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Engineer to join our team at Rec4Tech. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance data pipelines that drive livestock genomic research.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop robust data pipelines for processing and integrating large-scale genetic datasets using Linux, Bash, and Python.
  • Automate workflows to ensure scalability, error handling, and reproducibility in our data operations.
  • Manage high-performance on-prem servers and implement best-in-class DevOps practices.
  • Optimize memory, CPU, and I/O for efficient resource use in large datasets.
  • Collaborate with geneticists, developers, and infrastructure experts to seamlessly integrate algorithms into our workflows.
  • Provide ongoing support to keep our tools and pipelines efficient and up-to-date.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in Linux, Bash, and Python scripting and automation.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps practices and modern tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI) and infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to find efficient solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments and knowledge of livestock genetics (cattle and beef).
  • Familiarity with Python ML tools like Pandas, NumPy, or scikit-learn.
