We are seeking a Medical Professional to join our team as a Principal House Officer in the Medicine Department on a Temporary Full-Time basis.
About the Region
Mackay is a vibrant regional centre in tropical North Queensland, servicing a population of over 190,000. The region has a thriving economy with diverse industries including tourism, agriculture, mining, education, and health.
The Department of General Medicine provides hospital care for patients with complex medical conditions. As a Principal House Officer, you will be responsible for providing holistic care to patients under the supervision of a staff specialist.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients in the emergency department, medical wards and outpatient setting.
- Participate in daily consultant-led ward rounds and arrange and initiate clinical investigations as directed by the supervising consultant.
- Ensure comprehensive, accurate and concise medical records are maintained for all patients.
- Participate in out-of-hours roster including nights and weekends and participate in teaching, quality improvement and professional development activities as directed.
Requirements
- Be registered as a medical practitioner with the relevant state or territory health authority.
- Have completed a recognized internship program and have obtained full registration with the relevant state or territory health authority.
- Have postgraduate training in medicine or a related field.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Benefits
- Remuneration value up to $163,700 p.a.
- Employer superannuation contribution (up to 12.75%) is paid.
- Annual leave loading (17.5%) is paid for 4 weeks leave.
