Job Title: Laboratory Technician

This role is responsible for performing manual and automated diagnostic testing, specimen storage and retrieval, equipment maintenance and operation, maintenance of records, and assisting with stock control.

  • Performing a range of diagnostic tests on human samples using automated equipment and manual techniques.
  • Ensuring the accurate and efficient storage and retrieval of specimens.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment in good working order and carrying out routine cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Recording and reporting results accurately and maintaining high standards of record keeping.
  • Assisting with inventory management and ensuring adequate stocks of materials and consumables are available at all times.

Requirements:

  • A Diploma of Laboratory Technology or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in diagnostic testing.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and display positive attitudes towards achieving outcomes.
  • Strong time management, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
