Midwifery Career Development Opportunity

This role presents a unique chance to pursue a registered midwife qualification while employed as a registered nurse. As part of the 2025 Student Midwife Employed Program, you will gain clinical experience and academic requirements for the Graduate Diploma in Midwifery at UNDA.

You will be offered permanent part-time employment on our maternity units, with access to paid study leave. This program is specifically designed for registered nurses who wish to transition into midwifery.

As a student midwife, you will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of experienced healthcare professionals and participate in intensive preceptor and clinical educator support. You will also receive rostered shifts in a maternity setting that count towards your clinical placement hours for the post-graduate course.

Requirements include registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA, enrollment or eligibility to enroll in the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery at UNDA, and at least one year post graduate experience as a Registered Nurse. It is expected that you will remain employed as a Registered Midwife at St John of God Health Care for 12 months post completion of qualification.
