Ear Health Specialist

Culturally-sensitive ear health services are provided to Indigenous clients within a targeted community setting.

About The Role

The Ear Health Specialist delivers high-quality ear care services to Indigenous clients in various clinical and community settings with an emphasis on preventative care and early intervention through community engagement, screening, assessment, and management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide culturally-responsive audiology services for Indigenous clients.
  • Conduct community outreach, ear health screenings, assessments, and management of ear health issues.
  • Occasional travel to remote areas may be required.
Essential Qualifications:
  • A recognised practitioner with full membership with Audiology Australia or Ordinary membership with the Australian College of Audiology (ACAud) with competency in Hearing Aid Dispensary.
  • Broad clinical experience in primary healthcare including skills in planning, coordinating, and decision-making within a clinical audiology setting.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills including liaison and negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of historical and contemporary context of Indigenous health, social determinants of health, and philosophy and practice of Indigenous Community Control.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills including cross-cultural communication.
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to remote locations.
  • (Desirable) Post-graduate qualifications in public health.
  • (Desirable) Indigenous descent, identifies as an Indigenous person, and accepted by the Indigenous community.
