Medical Laboratory Specialist

This is a part-time role based in the Biochemistry department at Launceston General Hospital.
- The successful candidate will work under general guidance from the Scientist in Charge and perform professional work in one or more sections of the Pathology Department.
- We are seeking an experienced medical specialist to join our team, with a strong focus on scientific expertise and excellent communication skills.
- Apply professional judgement and scientific specialist knowledge towards performance, analysis and troubleshooting of standard diagnostic procedures.
- Forge close professional relationships with interdepartmental teams and communicate confidentially with requestors and clinical personnel seeking information on samples, results or test related information.
- Tertiary qualification/program of study in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Science or Applied Science or equivalent suitable to the position from a recognised institution.
- Eligible for membership with a relevant professional body such as Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists, Australasian Association for Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine, The Australian Society for Microbiology, Human Genetics Society of Australasia or the Australian Society of Cytology.
This role requires shift work, including night shifts and weekends, as rostered. The working hours are 48 hours per fortnight.
