Job Description:

The Director Operations plays a pivotal role as a key member of the Commission's senior leadership team, overseeing the management of a high-performing multi-disciplinary team that supports the Commissioner in discharging regulatory and operational obligations.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Commission's Operations team while leading and assisting with operational management across the Commission;
  • Review, develop, and drive complex legislative and policy change to enhance the Commission's undertaking of its statutory obligations and regulatory functions;
  • Develop and implement practice systems and processes required to effectively prepare and deliver strategic and operational plans;
  • Establish and manage the Commission's performance framework, including data analysis and reporting for operational and organisational performance oversight;
  • Proactively monitor and improve policies, procedures, work practices, and management systems to enable effective and efficient service delivery standards;
  • Manage operational management across human resources, infrastructure, workplace health, safety, and wellbeing, risk, compliance, and information technology;
  • Develop an engagement plan to educate and inform stakeholders on legal services, co-regulators, departmental stakeholders, and consumers;
  • Oversee the development and management of operating budgets to achieve optimal service delivery in compliance with relevant standards, audit, and governance requirements;
  • Implement the Commission's risk management plan and continuous improvement program;
  • Deliver corporate services and projects supporting operations, coordinating external providers and consultants;
  • Advise, mentor, and support the team by fostering a good work ethic, interactive, consistent work practices, and quality results;
  • Adhere to the Australian Solicitor Conduct Rules and display high professional ethical conduct at all times.

As a senior leader, you will contribute to ongoing review of legislative and policy change, providing leadership and management of resources to ensure statutory powers, obligations, and functions are applied appropriately.
