
Community Health Specialist

As a Community Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in improving the health outcomes of Aboriginal families. Your expertise and knowledge will enable you to establish strong relationships with the community and provide essential support services.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain relationships with the Aboriginal community to improve access to healthcare services.
- Provide advocacy, liaison, referral, and health promotion services to address the social, emotional, and cultural needs of patients/clients.
- Collaborate with antenatal and maternity services to ensure holistic care for Aboriginal women and their infants.
- Deliver direct clinical services as defined by the Aboriginal Health Practitioner Scope of Practice.
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and established links to the local Aboriginal community.
- Demonstrated knowledge of issues impacting Aboriginal women and women having an Aboriginal baby and their infants.
- Demonstrated ability to provide cultural brokerage, guidance, and facilitate respectful and culturally safe access for individuals, families, and communities.
- Hold or aspire to hold a Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or equivalent.
