The National Disability Insurance Agency is seeking a skilled leader to fill the role of General Manager, First Nations. This position reports to the Deputy CEO and is an SES Band 2 opportunity. The successful candidate will support the Deputy CEO in shaping the future of the First Nations Group and driving transformative change.

About the Role

The General Manager, First Nations will lead a team of Branch Managers, ensuring all programs and policies align with the vision and priorities of the First Nations Group.

  • Leveraging expertise in policy design and implementation to drive real and lasting change
  • Facilitating culturally safe spaces for First Nations communities
  • Developing and implementing strategies that address equity, justice, and wellbeing for people with disability

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the disability sector and the complex landscape of the NDIA. They will also bring lived or professional experience working with First Nations communities and possess strong leadership skills.

  • Strong strategic leadership skills, including the ability to lead and nurture diverse teams
  • Experience in facilitating culturally safe spaces for First Nations communities
  • A sophisticated understanding of First Nations-led evaluation, data sovereignty, and research methodologies
