Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled database professional to oversee and manage the daily operations of our Adabas database systems.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in database administration, system tuning, backup and recovery, and third-party database tools.

This role involves performing routine database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures.

Additionally, the candidate must be able to plan and implement upgrades and maintenance of ADABAS, Natural, and all related Software AG and 3rd party products at vendor-supported levels.

Applying patches and emergency fixes to ensure database stability and security is also an essential task.

The selected individual will be responsible for conducting database performance tuning and optimization.

Utilizing database utilities and third-party tools for monitoring and management is crucial for this position.

Supporting disaster recovery exercises and ensuring database recoverability is another key responsibility.

Collaboration with mainframe systems programmers to address performance and operational issues is also required.

Providing 24/7 on-call support and maintaining documentation for all completed tasks is necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Adabas Database Administrator.
  • Strong understanding of Adabas database structures, utilities, and performance tuning techniques.
  • Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning for Adabas.
  • Knowledge of third-party database management and monitoring tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
