About This Role

This position involves spearheading the external communications strategy for a major superannuation fund. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including media outlets and senior leaders.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in communications or corporate affairs roles, with a strong focus on external communications, media relations, and issues management. They should also possess excellent written communication skills, the ability to craft clear and compelling messaging, and strong stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a proactive external communications strategy aligned with the company's brand, purpose, and strategic priorities.
  • Lead strategic media engagement by working closely with senior leaders to build and maintain strong relationships with key journalists and media outlets.
  • Identify, develop, and pitch proactive media opportunities that showcase the company's leadership, innovation, and member-first approach.
  • Maintain Rest's external stakeholder engagement strategy and ensure consistent and aligned messaging across all external touchpoints.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related discipline.
  • Substantial experience in Communications or Corporate Affairs roles with a strong focus on external communications, media relations, and issues management.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communication plans in complex high-profile environments.
