Our team works towards promoting opportunities for rehabilitation and contributes to the reduction of crime in the community. As a leader within this team, you will provide guidance and support to staff who work closely with young offenders and their families.

About the Role:

This role involves providing strong leadership to a dynamic team of Youth Justice staff. You will plan and manage casework and the day-to-day delivery of services to clients. Your responsibilities will include supervising and providing authoritative advice and support to Youth Justice workers, preparing reports and maintaining effective working relationships with custodial staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead, manage and develop a dynamic team of Youth Justice staff
  2. Plan and manage casework and the day-to-day delivery of services to clients
  3. Supervise and provide authoritative advice and support to Youth Justice workers
  4. Maintain effective working relationships with custodial staff

Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of the youth justice system and the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005
  • An advanced understanding of the principles of case management and case work
  • Demonstrated leadership/mentoring skills and experience
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to effectively influence and negotiate
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Social Work or Diploma in Community Services Work

Working Conditions:

  • A full driver's licence is required due to the need to respond to emergencies across the state at short notice and outside business hours as required

Selection Criteria:

  • Has a strong understanding of the youth justice system and the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005
  • Can demonstrate an advanced understanding of the principles of case management and case work
