The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to be an integral part of the team responsible for developing, implementing and reviewing the organisation's Health and Safety Management System. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the Safety Specialist is a critical and dynamic hands-on role partnering with the business key stakeholders to provide support and guidance to the broader organisation regarding all OHS matters.
Key Responsibilities
- The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the wellbeing of every one of our people, furthermore, to protect the interests of the business and group entities from WHS risk exposure across all locations whilst enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of our business.
- Ensure safety management systems aligns with the requirements of ISO 45001
- Conduct risk assessments on new processes, facilities and materials
- Provide leadership and direction for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of a health and safety management system that ensures compliance with local regulatory requirements.
- Develop Health & Safety training, plans and programs and seek for continuous improvement.
- Implement a program that mitigates illness and injury risks and meets local regulatory requirements, including support for return to work programs and injury management.
- Engage and influence key stakeholders within the business to drive a Health & Safety culture.
- Support, coach and mentor leaders while driving accountability for Health & Safety performance.
- Foster a culture of reporting Health & Safety adverse events including incidents, injuries, near misses and hazards.
- Ensure effective incident investigation and root cause analysis is conducted.
- Develop and maintain the Company's reputation for excellence in the area of health and safety.
- You will be recognised as the 'subject matter expert' for ALL Health & Safety matters and serve as the key Health & Safety contact within the organisation.
About You
- You have experience in automotive manufacturing or another manufacturing industry.
- You have the experience, capability and leadership to influence positive health and safety outcomes.
- You have a thorough understanding of Health & Safety regulatory requirements.
- You have the capability to document and implement Health & Safety plans, processes and programs.
- Conduct regular internal WHS audits and participate in the internal audit schedule.
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or ISO 45001 experience will be highly advantageous
