The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare has a pivotal role in achieving deliverables for safe clinical processes.

Medicines safety and quality are key priorities. The Medicines Safety and Quality (MSQ) Program supports the safe and quality use of medicines in Australia.

This includes developing policy content, guidance, information, and communications about quality use of medicines issues.

The Program Manager, Medicines Safety and Quality oversees the program of work associated with medicines safety and quality.

This includes managing a team reviewing emerging evidence, providing recommendations and guidance, convening events to share knowledge, and publishing alerts on critical medicines issues.

Duties include:

  • Leading planning and conceptualisation of strategies and national guidance to support safe and quality use of medicines.
  • Managing development and maintenance of interventions, guidance, tools, and resources.
  • Ensuring cohesive messaging across the Commission and stakeholders.
  • Preparing high-quality reports, briefs, and documents on complex healthcare issues.
  • Promoting program priorities through various communications and public relations.
  • Undertaking project management activities, including project planning, monitoring, and reporting.

Key requirements include:

  • An extensive understanding of Australia's healthcare system and current health care safety and quality issues.
  • Excellent policy development and project management experience relevant to quality use of medicines.
  • Highly developed analytical skills, conceptual ability, and communication skills.
