Contaminated Land Remediation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Contaminated Land Remediation Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and managing environmental projects, including site assessments, investigations, and reporting.

  • You will have the chance to apply your knowledge and expertise in contaminated land assessment and remediation, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Your strong written and verbal communication skills will be essential in building collaborative relationships with colleagues and clients, supporting the delivery of successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Work closely with senior principals to plan and deliver environmental projects, including site assessments, investigations, and reporting.
  2. Support the preparation of proposals and scopes of work, ensuring alignment with client needs and project objectives.
  3. Undertake field investigations, including sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment for contaminated land assessments.
  4. Assist in managing subcontractors (e.g. drillers, excavators, service locators), ensuring safe and efficient site work.
  5. Log and document subsurface and contamination conditions during site visits, ensuring data quality and compliance.
  6. Contribute to the preparation of high-quality technical reports under the guidance of senior staff, including preliminary and detailed site investigations.
  7. Apply relevant Queensland and Australian guidelines in the assessment and remediation of contaminated sites.
  8. Maintain strong WHS practices and promote a safety-first culture on site and in the office.
About You
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology;
    • Postgraduate qualifications or certifications in contaminated land remediation will be highly regarded.
  • Essential Skills and Experience:
    • 3-5 years' experience in contaminated land and remediation;
    • Strong understanding of environmental compliance and regulatory frameworks;
    • Proven track record of working collaboratively as part of a team;
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
    • High attention to detail and quality;
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure;
    • Willingness to undertake fieldwork and occasional regional travel.
  • Desirable Skills and Experience:
    • Demonstrated progress toward CEnvP (Site Contamination) or Certified Professional Soil Scientist;
    • Familiarity with industry software and technology (e.g. ArcGIS, Geochemistry);
    • Knowledge of local government policies and procedures.
