The Role :

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to join our team responsible for developing database solutions. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader who can energize our team, foster collaboration across the organization, and drive the development of high-performance database solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design and develop database solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients.
  • Configure RDS services and create documentation for the configurations.
  • Troubleshoot database server outages, errors, and slowness, including some after-hours and weekend support as needed.
  • Configure database monitoring utilities to proactively communicate risks.
  • Determine the most effective way to increase performance and recommend hardware upgrades, server configuration changes, or index/query changes.
  • Develop and configure monitoring solutions to continuously monitor database performance.
  • Work with development teams to understand their needs and propose optimal physical implementations.
  • Configure database in high-availability clustering mode and/or on cloud as necessary.
  • Be the in-house expert for database administration best practices, including data backup and retrieval.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of database technologies, including MySQL, Postgres, and NoSQL databases.

Requirements :

  • At least 7+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA.
  • At least 5+ years of AWS RDS services experience.
  • Hands-on experience in database performance optimization and cost optimization with AWS RDS.
  • Strong database administration skills, including backup, performance monitoring, resource management, DB tuning, user rights, scheduling jobs, monitoring jobs, reading and interpreting SQL logs.
  • Excellent knowledge of data modeling and design.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on expertise in stored procedures, functions, triggers, indexes, jobs, and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of reporting tools is a plus.
  • Experience with data warehouse and BI systems is also a plus.
  • Prior experience with building high-performance eCommerce software is also a big plus.
