Lead Power System Planner

We are seeking a seasoned power system planner to lead our efforts in ensuring the reliability and resilience of Victoria's power system. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing short-term transition planning and coordinating projects from planning through to delivery.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to join our team and contribute to shaping the future of our energy systems. With a strong background in power system planning and operation, you will be able to provide expert technical advice to VicGrid and the Victorian Government on the operational shift from thermal generation to high renewable penetration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading technical services to integrate network assets and system services into Victoria's Declared Shared Network
  • Overseeing network and system performance monitoring to inform Network Planning and strengthen power system resilience
  • Providing expert technical advice on the operational shift from thermal generation to high renewable penetration
  • Building and empowering a high-performing team of professionals
  • Establishing strong stakeholder relationships and delivering agreed action plans
Requirements:
  • Appropriate tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. engineering)
  • Significant industry experience in power system planning with strong knowledge of power system modelling, analysis, and primary plant design
  • Proven track record leading geographically dispersed teams through transformation, delivering high-quality outcomes, and reporting to senior management
  • Advanced consulting and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and negotiate complex technical matters
