Job Title: Aboriginal Health Worker Role

The role of the Aboriginal Health Worker is to provide culturally appropriate support to improve birthing experiences and outcomes for Aboriginal women in a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct assistance and support to expectant mothers, ensuring culturally appropriate dealings with other healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide culturally appropriate care within the Women's Health, Neonatology, and Paediatrics Unit.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Be female and of Aboriginal descent.
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care Practice or be willing to attain it.
  • Have knowledge of and affinity with the local Aboriginal community, with experience in working effectively with Aboriginal women, families, and young children.

Working Conditions:

This role will work Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm. Flexibility in start times may be accommodated if needed.
