Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker Role

This is a challenging role that requires working sensitively and respectfully with families, children or young people. You will work collaboratively with other agencies to assist families in formulating goals that align with their needs, addressing safety and well-being concerns, and providing appropriate assistance through home visits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work effectively with parents, family members, children or young people to address their needs and support their well-being.
  • Collaborate with other agencies to share knowledge and expertise, and to engage in complex problem solving.
  • Assist families in developing safety plans and completing risk assessments to ensure the protection of vulnerable individuals.
  • Manage cases and situations involving high-needs and high-risk clients and their families, using your skills and experience to provide effective support and guidance.
  • Be involved in court processes, including preparing documents and attending hearings to advocate for the best interests of the child.
Requirements:
  • A relevant diploma or degree qualification is highly desirable.
  • Applicants without a relevant qualification must have at least two years' experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families.
  • You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, managers, and external partners.
  • A valid driver's licence and a paid working with children clearance number are also essential.
  • Documented verification of Aboriginality is required.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be confident, curious, and resilient, with a strong ability to work effectively in a team and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
