About the Role

The Queensland Government seeks a dedicated and passionate individual to fill the role of Teacher Aide (Identified) at Fitzgerald State School. As a key member of our educational team, you will play a vital part in promoting and developing an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures among students and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers and students with sporting activities and school excursions, fostering a collaborative environment that supports the academic and social development of our students.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and students, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal skills as a valued team member.
  • Develop engaging activities that promote partnerships between individuals and groups within the community, working closely with relevant teachers or staff members responsible for indigenous portfolios.
  • Maintain accurate anecdotal records on students to inform their development and progress.
Suitability Criteria
  1. Experience working with First Nation students and ability to support their needs.
  2. Ability to assist with managing self-care requirements of identified students, ensuring their well-being and safety.
  3. Familiarity with behavior management strategies and ability to implement them effectively.
  4. Strong communication and time management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  5. Display confidentiality, tact, reliability, and sensitivity when interacting with students and their families.
  6. Literacy and numeracy competency, enabling effective communication and record-keeping.
  7. Motivated and proactive approach, using initiative to drive positive outcomes in student development.
  8. Experience assisting teaching staff with playground and bus supervision, ensuring student safety.
  9. Completion of Education Queensland mandatory training and student protection training.
  10. Criminal History Check and current Bluecard for paid work.
