As a key member of the team, you will provide expert counsel and advice on all aspects of employment law, ensuring compliance with regional regulations and supporting the company's mission to transform the life sciences industry.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic employment law advice to the APAC Employee Success Team (HR) on matters such as hiring, discipline, and dismissals.
- Draft and negotiate employment-related agreements, including severance agreements, to protect the company's interests.
- Manage employment-related litigation and coordinate with internal and external subject matter experts as needed.
- Assist with other corporate initiatives, such as M&A, commercial, and compliance matters, to ensure seamless integration and execution.
- Travel within the Region to attend court proceedings and develop relationships with business partners.
- Support the continuous improvement of internal processes and stay up-to-date with new developments in employment legislation.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with senior APAC leadership and internal clients based on mutual trust and respect.
- Develop and execute a legal strategy for the Region, aligning with the company's business goals and objectives.
- 7+ years of experience practicing employment law in a reputable law firm and/or in-house for a U.S.-based corporation.
- Proven experience working in ambiguous situations, with a thoughtful and business-minded approach.
- Experience with different kinds of employment issues, including wage and hour, dismissals, compensation, discipline, works councils, and unions.
- Experience managing employment disputes in multiple major APAC countries.
- A confident and positive lawyer with experience providing advice and counsel in all employment matters.
- Strong aptitude for drafting documents, emails, and other materials in a precise and concise manner.
- Ability to work independently and use good judgment when escalating issues.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Experience providing advice in multiple jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Asia landscape and country/culture differences across China, Japan, Korea, AUNZ, India, and Singapore.
- Some additional language skills, such as Chinese or Japanese.
