Special Education Support Role

This position is a vital part of the educational services provided to students with complex needs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting these students and empowering them to develop their independence.

The school caters to approximately 275 students across two campuses, with a significant proportion having diagnoses of autism combined with intellectual disability, as well as other medical needs and disorders.

We are dedicated to fostering the development of social skills, communication, and mobility in our students. This position involves performing tasks under supervision and direction, including coordination of education support class staff within the work area or educational program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical tasks that require a sound knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles
  • Making judgements where there are clear guidelines and limited options
  • Undertaking coordination, specialised student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience is gained

  • Demonstrated capacity to perform duties consistent with established guidelines and frameworks
  • Capacity to work and collaborate with others in a team environment
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral
  • Technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the position
