Mission Australia's Psychosocial Support Services on the North Coast provide essential support to individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness. As a Peer Advocate, you will leverage your own lived experience of mental health recovery to inspire hope in others.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Use your lived experience to inspire hope, share recovery strategies, and support clients to achieve their goals.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate small peer-led support groups and recovery-focused activities.
  • Collaborate with Recovery Coordinators to develop and review recovery and safety plans.
  • Provide advocacy, coaching, and mentoring to build client resilience, motivation, and personal capacity.
  • Support clients in preparing for NDIS access, housing stability, and community participation.
  • Maintain accurate client records, documentation, and reporting in line with protocols.

Requirements for Success

  • Lived experience of mental health challenges with the ability to draw on personal recovery to support others.
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Peer Work (Mental Health) or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience working collaboratively in mental health, peer work, or related community services.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage professional boundaries.
