Principal Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our national multi-disciplinary water team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering projects of varying complexity and size, managing the overall scope and day-to-day tasks, and providing technical leadership in complex mechanical and hydraulic design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with a national multi-disciplinary water team to deliver project goals.
- Manage multiple projects of varying complexity and size, ensuring timely completion and high-quality technical documentation.
- Provide technical leadership in complex mechanical and hydraulic design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Contribute to business development initiatives and provide technical expertise in the design and procurement of projects.
- Support and mentor staff, including active participation in the Mentoring Program.
- Participate in company development initiatives and contribute to shaping the industry through committees, industry bodies, and delivery papers.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with CPEng accreditation.
- Relevant experience in the Water industry, with consulting experience desirable.
- Demonstrated strong technical expertise across a wide spectrum of Water and/or Wastewater design projects.
- Proficiency in assuming roles of technical lead or subject matter expert across multiple projects.
- Ability to prepare, produce technically sound reports with minimal need for corrections, and review technical reports for medium to large-scale projects.
- Skill in conveying complex technical matters effectively to clients.
- Proficient in providing technical leadership in complex mechanical and hydraulic design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with Design Basis, Equipment Sizing, P&ID development.
- Expertise in utilizing analytics techniques and data processing to develop models for predicting behavior of plant and equipment.
- Conducting detailed design of mechanical plant and equipment selection.
- Expertise with troubleshooting mechanical plant and equipment during commissioning and operational scenarios.
- Experience with HAZOP methodologies, and adeptness in safety in design practices and processes.
- Competence in identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures for medium to large-scale projects.
