Wood is seeking a seasoned Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our Operations business in Perth CBD. As part of our strategic growth plan, you will play a pivotal role in a major brownfields Engineering Service Contract with a prominent Oil & Gas industry partner.

Our Operations APAC West business delivers engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation, and technical services to the Oil & Gas industry, with long-term partnerships with leading producers in Western Australia, Northern Territory, and Southeast Asia.

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in delivering complex engineering projects, ensuring operational excellence, and contributing to the competitive advantage of #teamwood.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of engineers in delivering engineering projects, ensuring safety, technical, and commercial requirements are met.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and partners.
  • Providing technical expertise and guidance to engineers, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks and legislation.
  • Managing risk during the design process, consistent with safety, technical, and commercial requirements.
  • Communicating effectively with stakeholders, including written and verbal reports, and professional presentations.

Requirements include:

  • 15+ years of relevant design engineering experience in the Oil & Gas production and/or processing industries.
  • Proven experience working in a similar Lead Mechanical/Principal Mechanical Engineering role.
  • Expertise in Mechanical engineering, with knowledge of advanced principles and techniques.
  • Leadership skills, with experience in supervising teams and driving optimal performance.
  • Commercial acumen, with a solutions mindset and ability to manage risk.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to develop trusted relationships.
