Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Specialist to join our team at Goodstart Early Learning. As a key member of our People Specialist team, you will play a critical role in translating our People strategies into impactful actions.

About the Role:

The Compliance Specialist will be responsible for designing balanced people solutions, mitigating risks, and enhancing employee experiences. You will work closely with the broader People Team to identify areas of HR compliance vulnerability and risk, proposing remediation and improvements in line with our KPIs.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective employee relations strategies to ensure compliance with national and state-based employment legislation.
  • Manage and develop complex Employee Relations case management, including support documents and case conciliation.
  • Collaborate with the People Support team to coach and support them in managing employee relations cases.
  • Contribute to the development of our integrated ER and HR Compliance strategy, aligned with our values and goals.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to employees and managers on employment-related matters.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with employee relations and HR compliance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including employees, managers, and external partners.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in employment legislation and best practices, and apply this knowledge to inform our people strategies.

What You'll Bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Law, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep knowledge of national and state-based employment legislation, including (but not limited to) Fair Work Act, Bullying legislation, Discrimination and privacy legislation, WHS legislation.
  • Proven experience in employee relations and HR compliance, with a strong track record of mitigating risk and enhancing employee experiences.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and shape exceptional employee experiences.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to connect people strategy to the achievement of business outcomes.
  • A passion for working collaboratively, with a strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion.
  • Able to remain respectful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.
