VPS4 Payments Officer

About the Role:This is a unique opportunity to work with a reputable State Government organisation, coordinating and approving financial assistance payments. You will be responsible for quality assurance checks, continuous improvement, and contributing to budget reporting, briefs, funding bids, and annual reports.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate, review, and approve financial assistance payments.
- Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure all payment details are accurate.
- Coordinate payment schedules for processing by the departmental central unit payment team.
- Manage payment queries and provide advice on payment queries, including discussing payments with victims of crime and services providers.
- Contribute to operational budgets, performance reports, briefs for the CEO, funding bids, and annual reporting.
- Foster an effective working relationship with stakeholders and internal Finance teams.
- Complete other relevant tasks as directed by the Payments and Business Support Manager.
- General knowledge of government accounting and financial legislation, policies, processes, and budget/reporting cycles.
- Knowledge of bank reconciliations is a plus.
- Ability to create reports, manipulate and analyse data, and critically review them.
- Experience using PowerBI or similar interactive data visualisation software to create reports.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the application of the Oracle Financial System and Axiom budget management system (desirable).
- Commitment to trauma-informed practice, including an understanding of the victim service system, ability to apply an intersectional lens in service delivery, support and inform victims of crime, and centre lived experience in service delivery.
- Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving skills.
- Excellent Interpersonal and Stakeholder Management Skills.
