Northern Beaches Hospital is a Level 5 delineation service providing world-class care to patients.

The hospital features 488 beds, a 50-bed Emergency Department, and 14 state-of-the-art theatres. It offers diverse services including cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, maternity services, and emergency care.

As a Clinical Liaison Mental Health Nurse, you will be part of a team that provides unique experience in a growing teaching hospital. Our culture is characterized by diversity, friendliness, and openness to new ideas.

About the Role

This role acts as a central point of mental health expertise for Northern Beaches Hospital. You will triage and conduct timely mental health assessments, collaborate and coordinate care with multiple parties, and provide role modelling and training.

You will make an impact by providing a service for people experiencing mental health problems who present to the emergency department and inpatient units of the hospital. Treatment and care will follow patient-centred principles and implement a contemporary recovery model of care.

This position is based in a large, friendly and supportive environment. It is a 24/7 service requiring flexibility to work a full rotating roster.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide complex clinical consultancy services within mixed clinical environments
  • Lead mental health nursing and specialist clinical groups at a state, national or international level
  • Plan care/services based on assessment findings and evaluate against established goals
  • Deliver excellent patient and family centred care in a team focused environment
  • Act as a role model and mentor to junior staff

Qualifications for Success:
Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent qualification
Nurse with minimum 5 years post graduate experience, with at least 3 years in mental health nursing and approved post graduate qualification relevant to mental health nursing
